Toons GM departs as family retake control

The General Manager of independent furniture retailer Toons, Huw Williams, has left the company after almost eight years in the role.

In parting statement on LinkedIn, Huw said that he is “extremely proud” of the achievements made during his spell at the retailer, adding that he leaves the business in a “much better place financially and physically”.

It is understood that the Toon family has taken back control of the business. Belinda Toon has been a named director of the company since 1993. She first became MD back in 2003 and is the eldest daughter of founder Bill Toon, who sadly passed away in 1999. Other named directors include her mother Jean Toon, who has retired, and Melaine Toon.

Commenting on his exit, Huw said: “After seven and a half years today was my final day with Toons. I am extremely proud of the fantastic market leading achievements that the have Team produced over that time.

“I leave the business in a much better place financially and physically and I hope that Toons continues to be successful in the future.

“I am going to take some personal time for the next few months before I decide what the future looks like for me.”

Huw first joined Toons back in February 2017.
