The Sleep People are a privately owned manufacturer of mattresses. They have experienced significant growth during the last fiscal year and have plans to significantly grow the business further into other sleep-related product categories.
We are building a strong management team and now need an experienced person, full time, to develop and optimize the Operations and Production department. There is already in place a good supervisory and middle management capability, but the challenges of upscaling and growing the business requires experienced managers to drive change faster.
ROLE PURPOSE
Provide leadership and direction and controls and standards for all aspects of the site, including production and logistics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of our company’s operations. Your responsibilities will include:
– Ensure all production output is on time and produced to the correct costs. Provide plans to improve and correct as required
-Review operational hours /shifts patterns and management structure to facilitate above
-Work closely with Sales Director and Head of Purchasing to ensure forecasts and plans are aligned and that stock is available as required at agreed costs
-Manage and lead a team of around 60 operatives and supervisors
– Report daily/weekly /monthly against targets and provide corrective action as needed
-Ensure all production meets required health and safety standards and levels of conformance
-Provide plans for continuous improvement in all areas and plans to increase output and reduce cost
– Collaborate with other departments to achieve company objectives
-Contribute to wider management meetings on all aspects of business operation
– Endure in any other responsibility which involves the role of Head of Operations
– Developing and implementing operational strategies and goals
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
– It is likely and preferred, although not essential, that the individual will be working in the industry and have a working knowledge of mattress production.
– Ability to think strategically and get the job done.
– Numerate and skilled on excel and a good communicator and importantly a team player.
– Strong leadership and communication skills, with a proven track record in engaging and developing a team to achieve company goals and individual development
– The capacity to grasp complex concepts easily
– ICT literacy to deal with various technologies and programmes
– Ideally living close to Ossett

SALARY
Full time positon, 50k per year with some flexibility
