Store closure impacts tile business sales

Tile retailer and wholesaler Tile Choice has reported a decline in sales and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 June 2022, total sales fell 4.7% to £15.9m from £16.7m in 2021. Pre-tax profit resulted at £546,000, down from a profit of £910,000 recorded in the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said it had managed to maintain a large part of the huge growth from the previous year and also increased the margin, resulting in an “encouraging result” overall.

The decline in turnover was largely due to the closure of one underperforming store but also a slight fall from the highs of the previous year under lockdown. Online business has fallen as the stores have been open for the full year.
