Sales up and losses narrowed at furnishings manufacturer

Furniture and furnishings manufacturer Leisure Furnishings has reported a growth in sales as turnover surpassed £10m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 September 2021, total sales rose 50.6% to £12.2m from £8.1m in 2020.

Gross profit increased from £484,000 to £1.7m, while pre-tax losses resulted at £275,000, significantly narrowing from its loss of £876,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said that the business had recovered well from challenges related to the Covid-19 pandemic due to strong demand and a ‘surge in staycations’ across the UK.

“However, the aftermath of the pandemic was still apparent during this financial year and continued to have a significant impact on our supply chain. There were continued price increases across most of our commodities and rescheduling of orders from our customers, following delays across their supply chain,” the company added.
