Revenues reach £60m at upholstery manufacturer

Upholstered furniture manufacturer Whitemeadow has reported a growth in sales as turnover reached £60m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2021, total sales rose 27.2% to £60.4m from £47.4m in 2020.

UK sales were up 26% to £56.6m from £44.9m, with EU sales also growing 51% to £3.8m from £2.5m.

Gross profit increased from £14.7m to £17.8m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £1.1m, down from £1.9m recorded in its previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said sales growth was due to the exceptionally high carry over of orders from 2020, which resulted from displacement of production due to Covid-19 impacting facilities during a period of that year.

During 2021, the business continued with a consolidation process of its production facilities, relocating two sites into a new facility to improve overall production capability.
