JYSK expands in Ireland; shares wider group update

Danish furniture retailer JYSK has announced the opening of its new store in Ireland.

Located at Beacon South Quarter development in Sandyford, south Dublin, the new store is JYSK’s 21st Irish store.

To celebrate the launch, which has created around 100 new jobs for the area, JYSK is offering discounts up to 70% during the opening week.

The new store adds to JYSK’s plans to open a new Ballincollig store in Cork during August, which will be located at West City Retail Park.

In other news, Jan Bøgh, President & CEO at JYSK, shared an update on overall group performance and expansion. He said: “In May, we reopened one of our stores in Ukraine that was bombed in the beginning of the war. With this reopening we again have 85 functioning stores in Ukraine and we have plans to open four more this year with a goal of 100 stores within the next years.

“We also opened the first new country in three years when we opened our first two stores in Türkiye. It was great to personally welcome new employees to the JYSK team and see their excitement with the store concept and our strong JYSK values. The opening was a success, and we are already looking for locations for the next stores.

“I have also had the pleasure of again meeting the JYSK management team in HimmerLand, Denmark, for the annual strategy kick-off, but this time I was not the one presenting. Instead, Deputy President and CEO Rami Jensen presented his plans for FY24. There are strong plans in place from him and his leadership team in line with JYSK values and our long-term strategy. I look forward to following this work as President & CEO of Lars Larsen Group Retail.

“This spring, we have also been able to speed up our rollout of Unified Commerce. We have implemented the system with the opening of our stores in Türkiye and we now expect to have most of the Danish stores on the system by the summer holiday and the rollout completed in Denmark by September. We have also started preparations for the rollout in Spain, Portugal, and France.

“I am confident that this will make the shopping experience in JYSK even more seamless and closer to the customer and easier for those of you working in our stores.”
