Irish furniture retailer gets flagship store green light

Irish furniture retailer EZ Living Furniture is set to open a new £5m flagship store in Belfast after securing planning permission.

The business submitted a planning application to Belfast City Council to build a new £5m flagship store on Boucher Road, which will create around 25 new jobs.

The new store will be situated next to furniture retailer DFS with plans given the green light despite objections by DFS, another retailer – the Door store and the landlord of the DFS premises.

Stated in a report objecting the plans to the committee, it is understood that the proposal “does not respect the established building line along the Boucher Road” and that “it does not respond positively to the local context”.

These claims, however, were rejected by the committee.

This marks the second planning application approval for EZ Living Furniture, which operates 17 stores across Ireland and one in Northern Ireland, after securing permission to open a store at Carlow Retail Park in Carlow. This was granted at the end of August 2023.
