Independent retailer wins Family Business of the Year award

Independent furniture retailer Lukehurst has won “Family Business of the Year” at the Kent Invicta Chamber Business Awards 2023.

The awards ceremony and gala dinner for event was held at Westhanger Castle on 23 November. The Family Business of the Year category was open to any family business, irrespective of sector and size, that is owned and operated by two or more members of a single family.

Kathryn Lukehurst commented: “We are so pleased to have won this prestigious award, which is testament to the ethos of Lukehurst, which was originally started by my grandfather, Gerald Lukehurst, in 1970. My father, Martin, later joined the business and eventually took over, with myself joining the company in 2014 and now working as joint managing director with dad. Throughout this time, the hard work and good core values which Gerald instilled have been carried on by the family and the entire team.

“I would like to thank both the Kent Invicta Chamber for organising and the venue for hosting this wonderful occasion, celebrating businesses in Kent. It was a fantastic evening, which myself and 9 colleagues thoroughly enjoyed. I would also like to thank all our fantastic team and our wonderful customers – we wouldn’t be where we are today without you.”

Lukehurst’s aim is to offer quality products at value for money prices, high levels of customer service and expert knowledge, and they hope to continue for many years to come.
