Independent furniture retailer grows sales past £30m

Family furniture retailer Fishpools has reported a growth in sales as turnover surpassed £30m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 January 2022, total sales rose 28.1% to £34.1m from £26.6m in 2021.

Gross profit increased from £12.6m to £14.7m while pre-tax profit resulted at £90,000, down from £2.2m recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said that it has continued to invest ‘strongly’ in online to ensure it remains ‘highly competitive and relevant’, while stating that it has been a record year in volumes.

The meet the demand, Fishpools increased its headcount in a ‘targeted way’, while also adapting ‘extremely well’ to industry-wide supply chain and transportation challenges, making the business ‘stronger’ as a result.
