Independent carpet retailer to close store after Home Bargains acquires site

Independent carpet retailer Carpets Unlimited has announced plans to close one of its stores for good next month.

Carpets Unlimited revealed that its store on Wharton Retail Park in Winsford will close for the final time on 17 July 2022.

The reason behind the closure is due to the business not being able to find a new location after being told to vacate the premises even though it had intended to renew its lease.

The closure does not impact its other store in Chester, which will remain open as usual.

Carpets Unlimited, which has been established for 25 years, said that the closure of neighbouring furniture retailer Alan Ward, due to the Covid-10 pandemic, meant the landlord put the site up for sale.

Discount retailer Home Bargains purchased the site and has plans to open its own store.
