Home department store retailer grows sales by over £10m

Home furnishings department store retailer Housing Units has reported a growth in sales as turnover jumped by over £10m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 27 March 2022, total sales rose 42% to £35.4m from £25m in 2021, representing an uptick of £10.4m.

Gross profit increased from £11.8m to £16.9m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £4.8m, up from £2.7m recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said that the year was distorted by the impacts of the pandemic, but when its physical store reopened, it delivered a strong performance. Online sales also proved strong during the period.

“To support the growth in order intake volumes and turnover, the business invested in maintaining higher levels of stock in its warehouse so that customer orders could be fulfilled as quickly and efficiently as possible,” Housing Units added.
