Herringbone Kitchens – Apprenticeships

We are investing in a training and apprenticeship programme for 8 young adults 16-21 years old across our workshop and installation team. These will be NVQ level 2 courses. They will be 2 year course with training on learning at our workshop or out on-site. These are exciting apprenticeships including Fitted Furniture Installer, CNC specialist, Furniture Finisher, General Furniture Manufacturer and Project Management.

Location: Based in Canterbury, working across the UK

Hours of work: 40 hours per week

Wage: £6 per hour, overtime at 1.5x. Plus 28 days holiday (including bank holiday) and additional leave between  24 Dec- 1st January as an all company perk. Additional benefits such as Pension Scheme and further experience opportunities.

Job Description

Key objectives of role:

To be up for learning on the job, be professional at all times and have a can do attitude to complete the programme. Herringbone Kitchens ethos is to support local craftspeople, use sustainable materials and give a portion back to local homelessness charity. As a member of our team, we would expect you to support our ethos, work together across the business as a team and be included in marketing.

The candidates will earn a NVQ level 2 at the end of the apprenticeship and the programmes are eligible for anyone 16-18 years old and 19 to 25 years old with an education, health and care plan or use to be in care.

For this role you must be able to:

  • Turn up on time each day
  • Respect and listen to team leaders, managers and directors
  • Competent and confident in learning new skills
  • You need to have passed level 1 and 2 in English and maths
  • Be age 16-21 years old

Main Responsibilities:

  1. To be responsible for the effective and efficient completion of each task of the apprenticeship programme.
  2. To ensure that the work is undertaken in a timely manner, and have a professional attitude throughout
  3. Will be required to meet a timely target working as team and meet deadlines.
  4. When client facing, to be professional and respectful at all times.
  5. Work on own initiative to ensure that all work is carried out efficiently to ensure that your skills are being developed in the right timeframe.
  6. Take personal responsibility for own Health, Safety and Welfare and that of colleagues in the workplace. To adhere to all Health, Safety and Welfare policies.
  7. Take responsibility for all transport, equipment or any other device owned by Herringbone to ensure that they are kept in excellent condition and secure at all times.

Additional Tasks

  1. To take personal responsibility for demonstrating the aims of the Herringbone Equality and Diversity objectives.
  2. Ensure that IT Security and Data Protection Legislation is adhered to at all times.
  3. To gain an understanding of The Herringbone Ethos, and Herringbone Vision and strive to seek continuous improvement whilst carrying out your day to day duties.
