Furniture manufacturer delivers record sales

Folding guest beds, sofas, sofa beds and mattresses manufacturer, Jay-Be, has reported a growth in turnover.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 22 August 2021, total sales rose 28.9% to £16.5m from £12.8m in 2020.

Gross profit increased from £2.6m to £3.7m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £59,000, slightly down from £161,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said it had achieved record sales through both its retail and hospitality divisions, with the latter experiencing the highest growth, up 62% year-on-year.

UK and European retail sales rose 19% and 14% respectively, however sales in the USA and Canada declined, while total export sales increased by 1.8% to £882,000 from £866,000.

To conclude the year, the company achieved ISO 14001 Environmental Management and ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management standards, alongside other accolades, recognising the growing brand.
