Fabrics supplier sales grow; opens new stream for D2C

Contract fabrics supplier Camira has reported a growth in sales as turnover surpassed £60m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 1 January 2023, total sales rose 5.4% to £61.3m from £58.2m in 2022.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £3.1m, down from £4.4m recorded the previous year. Gross profit margin increased from 29.1% to 30.7%.

Stated within its report, the company said that UK sales were down 2.4% to £23.8m from £24.4m, while exports increased 10.9% to £37.4m from £33.7m.

“The company continued to carefully monitor costs during 2022, however its cost base increased due to the need to invest in new people in order to drive sales growth, and the impact of inflationary pressures was felt towards the end of the year,” the business said.

During the year, Camira launch its ecommerce platform in the UK to allow customers to buy directly from the website. “This is opening a new revenue stream for direct to consumer as well as trade customers in niche segments,” the business added.
