Fabrics supplier regains lost ground following Covid impact

Contract fabrics supplier Camira has reported a growth in sales as turnover climbed towards £60m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 2 January 2022, total sales rose 3% to £58.2m from £56.2m in 2021.

Gross profit decreased from £22.3m to £16.9m while pre-tax profit resulted at £4.4m, down from £4.7m recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said that UK sales were up 30.4% to £24.4m from £18.7m, but exports declined 9.8% to £33.7m from £37.4m.

During the period, the business managed to begin to recover lost ground from the impact of Covid-19 in the previous year and performed ‘very strongly in the second half’, exceeding budgeted sales by £2m.
