Discount department store retailer The Original Factory Shop has reported a growth in sales as well as a return to profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 27 March 2022, total sales rose 35.2% to £124.4m from £92m in 2021.

Stated within its report, the company said the early part of the year was affected by the pandemic, while the latter part was impacted by inflation on product cost prices and consumer spending.

During the year, the business invested within its 180-store estate to fresh a number of locations, while also opening 20 new stores as part of its continuing store opening programme.

Furthermore, to promote its stores on a local level, the retailer revealed that all stores now have individual Facebook pages to engage with local customers and to promote store and community activities.
