Contract lighting and furniture business delivers mixed results

Contract furniture and lighting group Steeple has reported a decline in turnover although profit more than doubled.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2021, total sales fell 2.8% to £27.6m from £28.4m in 2020.

Gross profit increased from £12.3m to £13.1m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £1.9m, up 225% from £583,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the group said its core lighting division saw sales growth of 3.4% to £24m from £23.2m, while office furniture sales dipped 53% to £2m from £4.3m.

UK sales declined by £1m to £14.1m, while export sales increased slightly by £200,00 to £13.5m.

Steeple Group is the holding company for a number of trading businesses including Eterna Lighting, Eterna Ireland, Protocol Furniture, R&S Robertson and Tibelec.
