Contract furniture supplier to relocate warehouse to meet rising demand

Contract furniture manufacturer Distinction Furniture has revealed plans to relocate to a larger warehouse to meet growing demand.

The business, which has been established since 1984, has seen rapid growth over the last few years following the relaunch of its wholesale and trade division, which went live back in 2019.

Kersi Deboo, Managing Director at Distinction Furniture, said: “Back in the mid-nineties to around 2003, we ran a similar division and were one of the biggest furniture suppliers to John Lewis, House of Frasers as well as retailers, interior designers and property developers.

“Due to recent demand from new and old clients in the last few years, we have re-launched this division and set up www.distinctionfurniture.co.uk.

“We offer something different to the market with our ‘mid-century’ look and our products are in stock, so lead times are between one to three weeks. Sales have grown year-on-year since the relaunch, even during the last two years through covid, as we were still operating and delivering to our customers, so they could complete their projects for their clients.”

With the demand increasing, the company has confirmed plans to relocate its warehouse premises to a new, larger facility in Reading, which ‘is in a better location to serve our nationwide client base’, Kersi added.

The new 7,200sq ft site officially opens in July or August with final plans still being confirmed.

So far this year the business has reported a positive performance, with the launch of new several new collections boosting its portfolio of products, with the recent Furniture Show proving to be successful.

“Sales have started strong in 2022 and continue to grow,” Kersi said. “This year so far, we have exhibited at Design Central South West, Scottish Interior showcase and January Furniture show, reaching out to our client base around the entire country again, which has been great after not seeing them for nearly two years!

“At the January Furniture Show we launched our Lucia and Tennyson chairs in a new sunburst orange colour, which was well received by the visitors on our stand,

“We met new and existing clients, all working on various projects from high-end residential to student accommodation, so plenty for us to follow up on.”

In keeping with products, Distinction Furniture plan to launch another new collection later this year too, as Kersi revealed: “We are introducing our new Oxford collection, which will be launched at Decorex Olympia in October and in addition, we will be launching two new ranges of occasional tables later in the year.”
