Chinese baby bed product rejected over choking concerns

A Chinese baby crib has been rejected at the UK border after being deemed as high risk over safety concerns.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards has reported that the Teknum Baby Crib, with a mattress and fold up legs, presents a high risk of choking.

The statement said: “The product, which originates from China, presents a high risk of choking as the zip pull on the mattress can be easily detached. A young child or baby may place it in their mouth and choke on the small part.

“The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005. The import has been rejected at the border.”
