Carpet maker continues to grow sales as UK drives performance

Carpet manufacturer Shaw Contract has reported another growth in sales while losses widened.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2022, total sales rose 14.5% to £34.7m from £30.3m in 2021, adding to its growth of 106% from £14.7m in 2020.

UK sales were up 14.8% to £24m from £20.9m, while rest of the world sales rose 13.8% to £10.7m from £9.4m.

Pre-tax losses resulted at £2.9m, widening from a loss of £1m recorded in the previous year. Gross margin improved from 7.9% to 10.4% during the period.

Stated within its report, the company said: “In 2022 sales have increased primarily in the UK. Changes will be implemented during 2023 to drive the same level of growth in other markets.”
