Bespoke furniture business suffers huge fire

Bespoke furniture making business The Dormy House has suffered a huge fire at its premises in Andover.

Crews from across Hampshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire responded to the blaze at Walworth Industrial Estate on 13 March 2023.

At the height of the incident there were approximately 100 firefighters on the scene working to stop the fire. Fortunately, there have been no injuries from the blaze reported.

Fire crews in attendance were the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire Service, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service and the Royal Berkshire Fire Service.

Relief crews from Totton, Ringwood, Romsey, Cosham, Overton, Beaulieu, Tadley, Yateley, Havant, Southsea, Hightown and Droxford were sent to take over from the firefighters who were first on the scene and had been working for a number of hours.

Water carriers, aerial ladder platforms and environmental protection unit vehicles were also on the scene.

The fire has caused approximately 90% damage to the main building, which spread to the side of an adjacent premises. The cause of the fire is not yet known with an investigation underway.
