Welsh bed retailer enters liquidation; ceases to trade

Independent retailer Cardiff Bed Store has ceased trading and entered liquidation.

Katrina Orum and Huw Powell, both of Begbies Traynor (Central) LLP, were appointed as joint liquidators of Fifth Dimension Furniture Ltd, trading as Cardiff Bed Store, on 23 June 2022.

It is understood that the business, which operated from its store at Gripoly House on Sloper Road, Cardiff, owed creditors just over £81,000.

Within these claims included preferential creditor HMRC, owed around £14,000, which is expected to be repaid from realised assets valuing £20,000.

As for unsecured creditors, with a combined total owed of £67,000, around £6,000 is expected to made available following the settlement of the aforementioned claim.

NatWest Bank is owed £28,000, while Cardiff Council is owed £5,700. Other business including Batley Carr Beds, Highgrove Beds and Slumbernights are owed four-figure sums.

Cardiff Bed Store had been established since 2013.
