UK sales fall at Dutch lighting group

The UK division of Dutch lighting group TRILUX has reported a decline in turnover as losses widened.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2021, total sales fell 17.7% to £18.5m from £22.5m in 2020.

Gross profit decreased from £3.9m to £3.6m, while pre-tax losses resulted at £1.2m, widening from a loss of £1m recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the group said that the year started slow due to the downturn in business at the end of the prior year.

However, the company took the decision towards the end of Q1 to proactively prospect the market for new customers and projects, which lead to a positive upturn in new opportunities. This resulted in the most successful year in projects and orders.

Due to the global shortage of components, the company was “not able to deliver the secured orders to meet the budget”, the group added.
