UK performance rebounds strongly at Scandinavian manufacturer

Scandinavian furniture manufacturer EKornes, owner of the Stressless brand, has reported a growth in UK sales and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2021, total sales within its UK division were up 19.1% to £21.8m from £18.3m in 2020.

Gross profit increased from £3.8m to £4.6m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £552,000, up from £426,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, Ekornes said the first quarter was ‘tough’ due to the pandemic restrictions, but sales ‘rebounded strongly’, aided by the ‘home nesting effect’.

“The strong performance in the second half of the year resulted in a record open order book heading into 2022,” the company added.
