Tile retailer ceases to trade; impacts over 100 jobs

Tile retailer and wholesaler Tile Choice has ceased trading after entering administration.

Tile Choice, which operates from 18 stores the East and West Midlands, filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator, with Roderick Butcher and Richard Goodwin, both from Butcher Woods Corporate Recovery, appointed on 15 January 2024.

A short statement on its website said: “Unfortunately Tile Choice has ceased trading. If you have an outstanding order email: tilechoice@butcher-woods.co.uk with you order details.”

The business, which employs over 100 staff, posted a reduction in sales by 4.7% to £15.9m in its latest accounts ending 30 June 2022. Pre-tax profit resulted at £546,000, down from a profit of £910,000 recorded in the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said the decline in turnover was largely due to the closure of one underperforming store but also a slight fall from the highs of the previous year under lockdown, while its online business has fallen as stores returned to being fully open.
