Textiles specialist recovers strongly from pandemic impact

Plumbs, a specialist in producing made-to-measure loose furniture covers, curtains and reupholstery, has reported a growth in sales.

Gross profit increased from £2.4m to £4.8m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £36,000, significantly improving from its loss of £996,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said that the final nine months of the year delivered strong results following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, yielding £20.4m of sales.

This culminated in a closing order book of £5.3m, £1.4m higher than at the end of 2020.

The business added that it regained much of the ground lost in the first quarter and remains ‘well placed’ to ‘build on the relative success of 2021’.
