Carpet retailer Mears Flooring has reported a growth in sales and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 March 2022, total sales rose 4.3% to Ā£11.2m from Ā£10.7m in 2021.

Gross profit increased from Ā£4.2m to Ā£4.9m, while pre-tax profit resulted at Ā£2.1m, up from Ā£1.9m recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said that sales growth was stronger in the second half of the year as the economy improved, while operating profit increased 23%.

ā€œThe current economic climate continues to be challenging given the difficulties in finding labour, the energy crisis and the inevitable slowdown in the housing market,ā€ the company added. ā€œHowever, the company will successfully meet these challenges through sound financial management and as such do not propose any significant changes to operations in the foreseeable future.ā€
