Somerset independent to close as owner retires

Independent furniture retailer Orchards The Furniture People has announced plans to close due to the owners retiring.

The business, which is situated at Somerset Square in Nailsea, Somerset, has launched a final £975,000 closing down sale.

Current owner Robin Orchard, who took over the business from his father John, has decided to retire, bringing an end to the store which has been trading since 1985.

Robin said that the decision was a ‘tough one’ but is the right time due to neither of his daughters being in a position to take over and run the business.

The store will close upon the conclusion of its closing down sale, which launched on Friday 12 May. Robin added he feels ‘sad’ about the closure and thanked his loyal customer base from over the years.
