Software provider Swan Retail suffers cyber attack

Software company Swan Retail has suffered a criminal cyber attack that has resulted in them going offline for days.

Swan confirmed the security breach by an unauthorised third party, which has impacted customers in the UK and USA and has seen its systems go down since Sunday 13 August and remain offline since.

A source familiar with the matter outlined that the business has launched a full forensic investigation into the attack, reporting the incident to law enforcement, while also assessing the impact on customers as it begins the process of returning online.

It is not yet known how long this process will take but Swan said it has been in regular communication with its customers since the attack and will continue to do so during the recovery, which is making “good progress”.

A statement from a Swan spokesperson said: “Swan has experienced a criminal cyber-attack incident causing significant disruption to our services and impacting some of our customers’ businesses. We are working around the clock to resolve the issue and liaising with law enforcement.”
