Sofa group proposes production facility consolidation

Upholstery group TCM Living, which houses UK brands Alstons, Ashley Manor, Alexander & James and AMX Designs, has entered into a consultation period with employees over a strategic proposal to transfer its Ashley Manor and Alexander & James production from the East Midlands to Dudley.

The proposal, which includes the facility in Sutton-in-Ashfield and its wood mill in Alfreton, would be to ensure the brands are “best positioned for sustainable and long-term growth”.

The proposal is to consolidate the locations of production sites and reaffirmed that operations would still remain separate but would be located closer to the existing Dudley factory.

It is understood that the other TCM Living businesses, Alstons and AMX Designs, will continue as normal and remain unaffected by the proposed production moves. The group has not yet confirmed how the proposals will impact staff.
