Silentnight delivers 26,000 beds in partnership with Premier Inn

Bed manufacturer Silentnight has delivered 26,000 beds – averaging around 1,800 beds per week – as part of its recent appointment as Premier Inn’s official bed supplier for the UK and Europe.

The Barnoldswick-based business is a third of the way to fulfilling their contract with UK’s biggest hotel chain.

The beds have been extensively refined and tested through research on overnight stays conducted over the past two years. The investment from Premier Inn will provide it with its most technologically advanced bed to date. It features a gel-infused ‘Geltex’ comfort layer which provides flexibility for greater freedom of movement and body temperature-controlling properties.

All of the beds and mattresses, which are 92% recyclable, are manufactured at Silentnight’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Barnoldswick, Lancashire.

David Lawrenson, sales director at Silentnight, said: “Working alongside Premier Inn will strengthen both of our positions among consumers as leaders in sleep expertise. The partnership, and the progress we’re making on delivering it, means that those staying in a Premier Inn – whether for work or leisure – enjoy a comfortable night’s rest and feel refreshed the next morning.

“We’re a third of the way to reaching our target and I know we’ve got the team and manufacturing capabilities needed to maintain this momentum and ensure Premier Inn’s beds are as sustainable for future use and supportive of helping people sleep as possible.”

Premier Inn Global Brand Director Tamara Strauss said: “With a relentless focus on comfort, our eye is always on delivering the best night’s sleep for our guests. That’s why we’re so excited to work alongside Silentnight – another great British business – on our new enhanced-specification mattresses.

“As you might imagine, replacing tens of thousands of beds across our estate is no mean feat and we’ve really benefited from the support and expertise of the Silentnight team in this significant logistical exercise.

“Helping our guests get the best night’s sleep possible runs to the heart of what we do. Our continued investment in the very best products is key to that, but so is doing it in a way that embraces technology and sustainability. By partnering with Silentnight, we’ve been able to ensure we delight our guests and continue to deliver a brilliant night’s sleep for everyone who checks into a Premier Inn.”
