Scottish beds retailer grows sales to record levels

Scottish beds and mattresses retailer Archers Sleepcentre has reported a growth in turnover and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 August 2022, total sales rose 7.5% to £13.3m from £12.4m in 2021. Pre-tax profit resulted at just over £1m, up from £809,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said gross margin improved 1% to 52.9% and that the year’s performance was its best ever results.

Archers added that with the movement of online shopping, its website, which was relaunched in October 2021, is continually being developed to allow a “seamless transition for customers between web and shop”.

“More and more customers are buying part web and part shop products and we are capitalising on this trend.”

Following an investment in IT to build an integrated shop, Archers expects performance to grow even further in the year ahead.
