Sales up by over 50% at independent retailer

Two-store independent furniture retailer Vale Furnishers has reported another growth in sales as turnover climbed towards £10m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 July 2022, total sales rose 53.7% to £9m from £5.8m in 2021, marking another year of turnover growth when sales rose from £5.6m in 2020.

Pre-tax profit remained strong and consistent at £1.3m for a second consecutive year.

Stated within its report, Vale Furnishers, which operates stores in Ash Vale and Farnham, said: “The directors are happy with the current strategy and product range, and believe performance will continue to improve in the financial year to July 2023.

“Trading margins remain under tight control, with management focus being on controlling administrative expenses as well as continued improvement in stock management.”

Looking ahead, Vale added: “The company will continue to try maintain their market share and has plans to develop the site from which the main trade is operated to offer greater customer opportunities to improve the company position in the market.”
