Sales down at mattress maker; improves following product launch

The UK division of US mattress manufacturer Sealy has reported a decline in sales as turnover remained over £20m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended June 2023, total sales fell 21.8% to £21.4m from £27.4m in 2022.

Pre-tax losses amounted to £7.6m, widening from £5m recorded in the previous year.

Stated within its account report, the company said: “New product launches were successfully introduced during the second half of last year and the company has continued to expand on these levels during this financial year.

“The new product ranges utilise unique proprietary spring technology and the directors and management are focussed on using this to drive revenue and profit growth to improve the company’s performance.

“The company has benefitted from increased sales as a result in the 2023/24 financial year.”
