Rising customer numbers deliver sales boost at department group

Department store retail group Boyes has reported a growth in sales and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 26 February 2022, total sales were up 24.9% to £89.7m from £71.8m in 2021.

Gross profit increased from £10.9m to £21.2m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £9m, up from £4.3m recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company, which operates from 69 stores across the Midlands and Northern England, said customer numbers during the period increased from 9.1m to 11.4m, an uptick of 25%.

“This increase is due to the customer base gaining confidence and returning to the high street following the closure periods,” Boyes said.
