Revenues surpass £60m at upholstery manufacturer

Upholstered furniture manufacturer Whitemeadow has reported another growth in sales as turnover climbed towards £70m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2022, total sales rose 9.8% to £66.3m from £60.4m in 2021, adding to its growth of 27.2% from £47.4m in 2020.

UK sales were up 9.8% to £62.2m from £56.6m, with EU sales also growing 7.8% to £4.1m from £3.8m.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £1.5m, up from £1.1m recorded in its previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said sales growth was due to the continued carry over of orders from 2021 which resulted from displacement of production due to Covid 19 impacting production facilities and subsequent increase in orders that followed.

During 2022, the business finalised its consolidation process of its production facilities, relocating two sites into a new facility to improve overall production capability. “This led to an increase in cost during the transition period and some short-term disruption to our production volumes,” the company added.
