Pent up demand drives sales growth at family business

Family furniture business Cousins Furniture has reported a growth in sales.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 June 2022, total sales rose 9.2% to £17.8m from £16.3m in 2021.

Gross profit increased from £7.2m to £7.8m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £1.3m, slightly down from £1.7m recorded in the previous year.

Stated within its report, Cousins said that sales order intake was up 4% as a result of pent up demand following the Covid pandemic restrictions being lifted.

Despite the ongoing supply chain issues and delays, the business increased customer deliveries by 9% on last year.

Cousins added that it continued to invest in its IT and other business systems, as well as its website in order to “maintain and improve cost control and organisational efficiency that are seen as crucial to the future success and development of the business”.
