Online furniture retailer Sofamall has been banned to display and sell a number of sofa models after a serious fire risk was discovered.

Four models of sofa sold by MK Sofas Ltd, trading as Sofamall, include Verso Sofa, Sonia Sofa Bed, Farrow Sofa and the Nicole Sofa.

In a notice filed by the Office for Product Safety and Standards, it said: “The products present a serious risk of fire and do not meet the requirements of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988.

“The products present a serious risk of fire as when tested they failed the match test, the ignition test for polyurethane foam in slab or cushion form, and the ignitability test for polyurethane foam in crumb form.”

A temporary ban on the supply, offer to supply and display of the product has been implemented.
