Online metal supplier invests £700k

One of the UK’s largest online metal and steel suppliers, The Metal Store, has invested £700,000 in new technology and systems as it looks to fuel further growth.

The Metal Store, which supplies metal to businesses and includes services for home and retail furniture projects, has acquired two straight cutting computer numerical control (CNC) machines for high production cutting of steel tubes.

Also part of the investment, the company has purchased industrial wrapping machines, semi-automatic taping machines, automatic strapping machines and a press brake for bending sheet metal, as well as acquiring three large flatbed vehicles for deliveries and new racking systems to create additional storage space and boost lead times.

The Cleckheaton-based company, which has been established since 2011 and operates out of its 50,000sq ft facility, said the investments will “maintain its momentum, increase capacity, output and efficiency to expand further”.
