Online furniture retailer appoints logistics specialist

Online furniture retailer Hemming & Wills has appointed the UK’s leading two-person delivery providers AIT Worldwide Logistics company Panther Logistics, to enhance their final mile offering to their growing customer base.

The Northampton-based company will be primarily tasked with handling and delivering the online retailer’s non-bespoke furniture range to customers across the UK.

Hemming & Wills customers will benefit from Panther’s market leading standard two-person delivery services, which includes delivery to room of choice.

After searching the marketplace for a number of delivery providers having moved away from their previous suppliers, Hemming & Wills wanted a company that had the network and capability to be able to grow in line with their expansion plans over the coming years.

The company was established by founder Chris Woolfenden in 2019 following years of being frustrated by the lack of distinctive, quality furniture on the market, leading him to leverage his years of e-commerce and customer service experience to create a unique at-home brand that championed quality and value in its furniture products.

The online retailer now boasts a suite of high-quality, design-led and wood-focused furniture ranges comprising of everything from dining tables to beds.

Having experienced unprecedented demand during the Covid-19 pandemic in line with the seismic shift in consumer buying habits as shoppers flocked online, Hemming & Wills grew from strength to strength and continues to do so to this day.

With aspirations of sustaining this demand long-term as e-commerce continues to grow in the UK, they sought out the expertise of Panther Logistics who has been at the forefront of the two-person delivery market since the concept’s formation.

Calling upon its extensive experience of handling and delivering high-ticket furniture items on behalf of its wide range of customers, including emerging brands within the e-commerce space, James Langer, Business Development Manager at Panther Logistics, feels that the two-person delivery specialists are well-placed to scale Hemming & Wills’ offering through their suite of services.

James Langer commented: “We are delighted to have the opportunity of partnering with Hemming & Wills, an exciting and promising online retailer that not only has high aspirations for growth, but shares a number of synergies with Panther Logistics, especially in regard to delivering excellence across every aspect of their business.

“When we initially met with Hemming & Wills we quickly learned that the business placed significant emphasis on its ability to deliver the best service possible to its customers across the entire shopping experience. With the final mile process being the last impression left on a customer now more than ever, it is vital that brands get it right.

“It is for this reason we are looking forward to helping Hemming & Wills to enhance its delivery offering and in tandem continue to improve its customer satisfaction levels through providing their customers with a prompt and professional two-person delivery offering.”

Chris Woolfenden, founder of Hemming & Wills also added: “As an online retailer, from a consumer’s perspective we are deemed only as good as our reviews suggest, therefore our ethos since the company was established in 2019 is to deliver excellence in all that we do. A big part of this is our delivery offering and ensuring that our customer’s products are delivered safely and in a professional manner, especially as many of them are high-ticket items.

“While we have only been with Panther for a short amount of time, we have been impressed by their service. With previous delivery providers, we often had to contend with damages, lengthy collection lead times and late deliveries. Panther’s turnaround so far for the most part is collection and delivery within one day – which from our experience is completely unheard of. Fundamentally, want to create a pleasurable buying experience for our customers so they keep coming back time and again, and Panther can play a significant role in enabling this.

“Other than their impressive network and shared customer-centric offering what really drew us to Panther was that they saw the vision of where we wanted to get to as a company in terms of growth and were happy to support us with this journey. Most competitors we spoke to have a minimum volume threshold per month, but Panther were happy to be flexible seeing the bigger picture and wanting to grow with us as we scale.”
