Office furniture business secures new store approval

Office furniture business Levant Office Interiors has secured plans to open a new store in Sunderland.

Detailed in a planning application to Sunderland City Council, the business has been given the green light to open a shop at the former Co-Op store on Percy Terrace in the Penshaw area.

The plans state that Levant Office Interiors Ltd will install a roller shutter door to the rear of the property for deliveries and replacement windows to the ground floor and first floor, with clear glass looking into an office/showroom area.

It was noted that the window changes were needed to replace ageing timber frames and to “improve energy efficiency and security”.

Following a review, the council has approved the plans, stating in its report that the new windows would “improve the visual appearance of the property and reintroduce an active shopfront”.

The new store when opened is expected to create three full time jobs and two part time roles.
