Nonwovens supplier to furniture industry posts sales increase

Technical nonwovens supplier AMR Textiles has reported a growth in turnover as sales climbed towards £30m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 March 2022, total sales rose 17.5% to £28.1m from £23.9m in 2021.

Gross profit increased from £4.3m to £4.7m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £2.4m, slightly down from £2.7m recorded in the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company, which supplies polyester and natural products to the high-end furniture and bedding industries as well as various other sectors, said margins remained volatile due to the variations in raw material prices and exchange rates, which led to a slight decline to 16.9% compared to 18.2%.

UK sales rose 16.6% to £27.3m from £23.4m, while exports to the EU increased 53% to £822,000 from £537,000.
