New bed and sofa store earmarked for vacant Irish unit

Bed retailer Dreams and upholstery business Sofatime have earmarked a joint store in Limerick, Ireland.

According to a planning application to Limerick City and County Council, the new superstore will be situated at Parkway Retail Park on Dublin Road and will take over a former Carpetright unit.

The plans from Targeted Investment Opportunities Icav, a development fund responsible for projects across Ireland, state the installation of a second level to allow for an additional trading floor space, as well as new signage.

The proposed tenant, Hometime Retail Ltd, which trades as Dreams and Sofatime, will let the unit as a co-branded store.

Dreams would take up most of the ground floor space, while Sofatime would have a “presence on the ground floor and dominate the mezzanine area”.

Limerick City and County Council are currently reviewing the application, with a decision expected to be made around 17 February 2024.
