Independent carpet retailer grows sales; expects ‘steady’ trading

Independent carpets and flooring retailer Calverts Carpets has reported a growth in sales and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 January 2022, total sales rose 19% to £14m from £11.7m in 2021.

Gross profit increased from £2.2m to £3.4m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £1.38m, up from £1.32m recorded in the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “The carpet industry in the UK is expected to remain steady for the foreseeable future, despite the effects of the pandemic.

“Against this background, Calverts aims to deliver revenue and profit growth by focussing on key products whilst driving further efficiencies to control costs. Customers have continued to support the business, even within difficult trading conditions.”
