IKEA submits planning application for first Lancashire store

Swedish furniture retail IKEA has earmarked Preston as a potential new store in the UK.

According to planning documents submitted to Preston City Council, IKEA wants to open a new store at Deepdale Trade Park.

Detailed in the plans, the store would be situated in Unit M1, which was previously occupied by Toolstation until 2019, creating around five new jobs.

The store would be used for its click and collect service, with a small part of the 520sqm unit designated for kitchen and bedroom planning services.

If planning is approved, the store would mark IKEA’s first in Lancashire, with the closest currently being Warrington or Manchester.
