IKEA prepares for opening of its first Lancashire store

Swedish furniture retail IKEA has confirmed that its new store, and first in Lancashire, will open at the end of this month.

Earlier this year, IKEA submitted planning documents to Preston City Council to open a new store at Deepdale Trade Park.

Detailed in the plans, the store would be situated in Unit M1, which was previously occupied by Toolstation until 2019, creating around five new jobs.

The store would be used for its click and collect service, with a small part of the 520sqm unit designated for kitchen and bedroom planning services.

IKEA has now confirmed that it will open in “a couple of weeks” towards the end of the month, with finishing touches being made at the Plan & Order Point at Deepdale Retail Park. An exact opening date has yet to be finalised.

A spokesperson for the company said: “We’ll be opening in around two weeks’ time. I can also confirm that the Plan & Order Point will have a Click & Collect facility, meaning that customers will be able to order any item from IKEA and collect it free of charge from the new Preston site.”
