Home department store retailer sales return to normal levels

Home furnishings department store retailer Housing Units has reported a decline in sales and profit as trading returned to “normal levels” following the pandemic boom.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 26 March 2023, total sales fell 15% to £30m from £35.4m in 2022.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £1.8m, down from £5.5m recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “During the period, trading conditions slowly returned to what the directors consider to be more normal levels and by the end of the trading year the company’s undelivered customer order book, stock levels and creditor levels reflected this.

“The performance throughout this period was very strong and is a reflection of its focus on delivering first class products and exceptional levels of customer service.”
