Higher market focus delivers resilient sales at carpets maker

Carpet manufacturer Brockway Carpets has reported a decline in sales and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 March 2023, total sales fell 6.7% to £19.4m from £20.8m in 2022.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £2.3m, down from £2.7m recorded against the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said that following the “strong demand for quality wool carpets” after the Covid pandemic, the market started to return to previous levels.

“Costs across the business were managed to deliver an operating profit to sales ratio which was only just behind the previous fiscal year,” the business added.

“Gross margin was up (39.7% from 37.7%) with the continued move to better margin ranges and away from the more volatile lower priced market segment.”
