Furniture retailer ceases to trade; stock to be sold at auction

Furniture retailer Simpson Furniture has ceased trading with liquidators set to be appointed as stock goes up for auction.

Asset advisory specialist Walker Singleton has been instructed by Quantuma Advisory, the proposed liquidators of Simpson Furniture Limited, to sell a wide range of furniture, homeware and accessories from Simpons’ Buxton showroom at The Springs Shopping Centre.

Over 400 items, which include sofas, armchairs, living room furniture, beds, bedroom furniture, lamps and ornaments, will be sold via an online auction, which closes on 8 December 2022.

The business also operated out of two other stores in Heywood and Bury. The Buxton premises had only been open since April this year.

Walker Singleton is opening a public viewing for the stock on 7 December ahead of the auction. They said: “Due to the closing of Simpson Furniture’s showroom in The Springs Shopping Centre, Buxton, Derbyshire, we have a wide range of homeware and accessories offered for sale via online auction.

“We would recommend anyone interested in taking part in the auction to come to the viewing day and see for themselves the breadth and standard of the furniture items available.”
