Furnishings and fabrics manufacturer Moon has reported a growth in sales and profit.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2021, total sales rose 9.5% to £18m from £16.4m in 2020.
Gross profit increased from £5.9m to £7.9m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £907,000, up from £146,000 recorded the previous year.
Stated within its report, the company, which also operates two retail stores in York and Guiseley, said that its overseas demand for its apparel fabrics continued to grow, while its Accessories division delivered a positive year too.
The jump in profit was attributable to controlled costs and improved margins, while the business focussed on investing in more ‘stock supported ranges’ to help key customers obtain fabrics quickly. Furthermore, the company also invested £1.7m in plant and machinery, as well as property.
